Grasse, the France's Perfume Capital of The World
The town of Grasse, in the hills above Cannes, is known as the perfume capital of the world. Today for its inimitable fragrances which constitute the most famous perfumes in the world and its fields of flowers. Actually, Come and practice your sense of smell and visit some great perfumeries such as Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard ! Yet, this has not always been the case. In the 18th and 19th centuries, industry took off in Grasse partly to counter the smell due to the tanneries.
Mougins, a high place of gastronomy and art of living
Everything started in the 1950s when Célestin Véran, a cook in the national navy, had the hunch that the aftermath of the war would kick-start the tourism especially in Cannes and surroundings. Thus, he transformed his boat into a "sea taxi", and while fishing, he strolled on the waves of rich and idle Englishmen who had come to spend the winter in the gentle sun of the Côte d'Azur. Gradually, its customers are getting into the habit of "going up" to Mougins to taste its famous “bouillabaisse” prepared with fresh fishing. The latter killed two birds with one stone, because they also discover the sweetness of life in the village. Finally, in April 2019, “La Brigade des Étoiles de Mougins” came into existence. Made up of around fifty French and foreign starred chefs, from “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” chefs, they are now the Ambassadors of Mougins and French gastronomy within their restaurants and their many trips around the world.
